Hamao is an adult manga artist who made a tankobon debut in January 2013 with "スイーツスウェット", published by Wani Magazine. Working chiefly in COMIC Kairakuten BEAST and COMIC Kairakuten, the artist has published all books through the same company at intervals of roughly one every two years: "きらきら" (2014), "キャンディドロップ" (2016), "温かくて柔らかくて" (2018), "ショコラ" (2020), "OVER!!" (2022), "わたあめとカラメル" (2023), and "コネクト" (2025). As the confection-themed titles suggest, the work centers on short stories, rendered with a gentle touch, of couples in mutual affection seeking one another, and the artist is also known for heroine designs individually differentiated from work to work. In the reader-voted Ero-Manga Awards the first three books placed high in succession: "スイーツスウェット" fifth in 2013, "きらきら" second in 2014, and "キャンディドロップ" third in 2016.
