The passing of years can itself be the frame of a story. Watashi ga 3-nenkan Sareta Koto. stands in the hall for carrying a form refined in doujin CG collections, a long span of time cut into measured intervals, over into full-colour manga.
It is an adult comic collecting two stories based on CG collections released by the doujin circle Sorairo Nyan Nyan in 2013 and 2016. The title story is a chikan story set on a commuter train to school, told month by month across three years of high school. The companion piece is a sibling incest story.
The heart of the book is how it shows time. Readers agree that clothes changing with the seasons and a hairstyle that shifts little by little let the years pass as the pages turn. They are just as agreed on the generous use of inner voice and on a soft, endearing style of drawing.
Since 2011 the circle behind the source material has put out work after work with a span written into the title: eight days, five years, twelve months, eighteen months. This book recasts that form as manga. The National Diet Library holds four books under the name Katase Aoko, and this is the earliest.
The print edition appeared in January 2018 in the GOT COMICS line of GOT, a publisher in the DMM group. It can also be read as a book of the year when commercial titles on DLsite naming chikan were at their most numerous. No award is on record. It stands 98th among the hall's commercial works.
