One idea, tended by its circle for eight years. Bonyuu-chan wa Dashitai. stands in the hall as the starting point of a series that branched out into sequels, side stories, paperback novels and an OVA.
Set at a school, it follows an admired upperclassman who is keeping a secret and a younger boy from the brass band club who becomes involved with her through a favour she asks of him. It is the first book in a pure-love series whose subject is lactation.
Readers agree on the way it carries an outlandish premise through as a story without ever losing its bright, sweet tone. The endearing cover and art and the skill of the drawing are praised too, and many reviewers urge newcomers to keep going into the sequels.
The circle is Hitsujimama, and its author, Hitsuji Takako, put the book out first as a printed doujinshi before bringing it to digital in August 2018. The printed sequels kept ahead of the digital ones: the third, released at Comic Market in winter 2018, placed within the top hundred of the adult new-release chart at Melonbooks Akihabara Store No. 1. The series has continued into 2026, and novelizations have appeared from two publishers.
In 2023 a four-episode OVA was made under the same title, and an official English edition appeared on DLsite. The book also belongs to the early part of a rise: DLsite doujin manga with "bonyuu", breast milk, in the title went from 5 in 2017 to 21 in 2019. It stands 92nd among the hall's doujin works.
