What the title promises and what remains once the last page is turned are not the same thing. Kinou no Tomo wa Kyou no Sefure was taken up by readers gap and all, and stands in the hall as the opening of a trilogy.

Set at school, it is a 34-page story about a friendship between a boy and a girl in the same class. When sex comes up in casual talk among their group, the heroine grows curious, and what lies between her and her male friend shifts toward the arrangement the title names. The story is told from her point of view.

The title says sex friend, yet most readers take it as a coming-of-age story. They note a group that feels true to life, where the worldly and the innocent share the same circle, and a freshness in the way the two move one step at a time; others praise its soft, unforced drawing. The art is said to be by glycogen.

The edition is thoughtfully made, too: a second version in which the male lead's eyes are left undrawn comes bundled with the first, so readers can choose how to read it, and reviews on both stores take note. Mittsuman followed it with sequels in 2025 and 2026, making it a trilogy.

It appeared first on FANZA in June 2024 and reached DLsite about two months later. An English edition is said to exist. By a rough count, doujin manga with sefure in their titles grew sixfold between 2019 and 2025, and the book can be read as part of that turn toward titles that name the relationship outright. It stands 91st among the hall's doujin works.
