Across 180 pages it builds up, step by step, the inner movements of three characters and its protagonist. "Boku ni Harem Sefure ga Dekita Riyū" stands in the hall as the first book of the series that has carried Airu Airu ever since.
It begins when a shy male student runs into three gyaru from his own class at a convenience store. It is an adult work set in a school, built on the gyaru and the harem as its subjects, and the "reason" promised in the title is paid off at the end.
Reader comment goes first to the depth of its opening. The first fourteen or so pages show each of the three in her everyday life and why the protagonist is drawn to them, giving emotional grounding to everything that follows. His inner life is rendered with care, and some readers see the narration's restraint with the heroines' own monologue as groundwork for the ending. The three are distinct in temperament and manner, and none is reduced to a supporting role. A cute touch and a comic sense of timing keep the pace, and a small device helps: an icon of the speaker set beside lines of dialogue. It closes on a pulled-back panel of all four and the word "to be continued".
The artist, Airu, began the circle Airu Airu in 2016, and first passed ten thousand on DLsite with a 2020 work. This 2021 book, which gathered material posted over time on social media and a supporter platform into one volume, went past three times that. Readers mention its sheer length more than anything else. On release day it reached No.1 in DLsite's overall daily ranking. The series has run to a fourth book, and in 2024 it was adapted as a four-episode OVA.
It stands 89th among the hall's doujin works and 3rd in the Harem division. It is the only book in the series to reach the hall, and Airu Airu is also in the hall as a circle.
