HALL OF FAME

For a serial, knowing where to draw a line is among the hardest tasks. Shojo ga Doutei to no Hatsutaiken de Mezamechau Hanashi 3 stands in the hall as the last chapter of the school arc, closed by laying the couple's future over the line that graduation draws.

The third instalment of a pure-love series about a student couple, it follows the two through their final year of high school with graduation just ahead. Three main chapters and a newly drawn epilogue make 113 pages that run in order from exam results to life after graduation, and the promise made in the previous book becomes a promise about the lives ahead of them.

What this volume brings forward for the first time is the boy's inner life. Possessive of her and uneasy about what comes next, he finally says what he feels after the two drift out of step, and their talk ends in a proposal. Many reviewers single out the rendering of unspoken thoughts and the range of expression, and one notes scene changes drawn so precisely that the flow could be followed with the dialogue erased.

It is the seventh of the nine titles the author Dojiro has released as the circle Dojiro Books. Average ratings have edged upward volume by volume, and readers call this one the culmination. A preview of the next chapter closes the book.

It went up on both stores on the same day in April 2024. That same year, Wani Magazine published a print volume, #Yuuryou Shoujo: Kanzenban, under a title shared with one of the circle's doujin series. It stands 15th in the pure-love division and 90th among the hall's doujin works.
