Toaru Gakkou no Fudeoroshi Jijou stands in the hall for building a single invented custom into something that reads as a genuine local observance, and letting that conviction carry the whole book.

It is an adult work of the coming-of-age kind, in the onee-shota line, set in a rural school where an old observance survives in which older women guide the boys through a rite of passage. The woman in the lead role is thirty-two. For the form, that sets the older side's age unusually high, and most readers took it as a deeper capacity for care.

The craft shows in the setting. Readers return again and again to how naturally the custom named in the title reads as an observance rooted in its place. In the drawing, they single out uncluttered pages that are easy to follow, sound effects kept small enough not to intrude, and clean compositions.

It is the fifteenth work of a circle active since 2011: thirty-one pages in full colour. It shares the pattern of its title with a 2015 book set in a village, and six years on it moves the setting to a school. Returning to a subject after years and polishing it again is how this circle moves forward.

Readers name Higumaya again and again as a mark that promises finish, and the record supports that trust: every work since August 2014 holds a star average within a narrow band. Like every work in the hall's shota category, it has been read more widely on FANZA than on DLsite. It is eighth in the shota category, where another work by this circle also stands.
