It turned the standard move of the hypnosis story inside out, and opened a series that would run to five volumes. "Okasare Saimin" stands in the hall as the point where that series begins.

The setting is a former girls' school for the well-to-do, newly gone co-educational. The protagonist, its only male student, is bullied day after day by two classmates, the chairman's daughter and a popular influencer, until he comes upon a pendant that rewrites how others perceive things. It is an adult work of the hypnosis genre set in a school, and the book itself carries a notice that it depicts bullying.

Its design turns on a reversal. In the genre's convention, an underdog gains a power and takes the upper hand. Here the device only alters perception: the protagonist never takes control, and his place as the one being bullied does not change. Reader comment gathers above all on this reversal, and on a protagonist written as an ordinary, decent person rather than a predator. One might read in this variation, which never asks the reader to side with the one who dominates, part of why it was welcomed by readers long familiar with the genre. Reviewers agree on the sureness of the draughtsmanship, and some single out the slightly heavy line and the construction of the panels.

The circle Puu no Puupuupuu made its name with the snow-woman series by its founder, the artist Puuzaki Puuna. For this, its eighth work on DLsite, Puuzaki stepped back to planning and cover colouring, and the manga was drawn by Shindou, an artist brought in from outside who also runs the circle Momo Fuguri. Built from the start with sequels in mind, the series has reached a fifth volume and a compilation. Sales thin out volume by volume, while the star rating keeps rising.

Official translations exist in five languages. It stands 109th among the hall's doujin works and 6th in the Hypnosis division; its sequel sits at 8th.
