It takes an outlandish premise and carries it all the way through on high-energy comedy. Shu Shuku Shu! is the first book by Kakkuu, and it topped a readers' poll in 2013.
The title serial begins when a parasite that steers its host's behaviour gets inside a younger sister, sending her, her older brother and her friend into a spin; shorter pieces fill out the book. It is a loli-genre collection whose sibling-incest premise is handled throughout in the key of gag comedy.
What readers single out first is the heroine's face, which flips from retort to worry, jealousy and anger in quick succession. The parasites are drawn as cartoonish caricatures, and the back-and-forth runs at a brisk tempo. Readers also praise the paneling and construction, and a way of building stories that recalls the comedy of older girls' manga.
The book gathers work drawn between 2008 and 2013, and readers at the time welcomed the way the drawing grows stronger in the later pieces. It is the only solo book on record under the name.
The print edition came out from Hit Shuppansha in March 2013, placed eighth on Toranoana's monthly chart of adult books two months running, and finished 53rd on the chain's chart for the year. In the Eromanga Taisho, a readers' poll run by volunteers on the 2channel message board, it took first place for 2013, and that record is how it entered EHOF. It has been available on DLsite since 2016. It stands 182nd among the hall's commercial works.
