Sometimes a single character grows into an artist's emblem. Shuujuu Ecstasy stands in the hall as the book that introduced readers to Shion, the sharp-tongued maid, and laid the groundwork for what followed.

At its centre are the three chapters of the Shuujuu series, a triangle between the student-council president of a school, a young lady of good family; Shion, the maid who attends her; and a boy from the same school. Around them sit the two-part comedy Bonjiri-sensei, about an adult-manga artist and the editors around her, and other stories, fourteen chapters in all. The title names its subject: the master-and-servant story, a relationship defined by a difference in standing.

Comment gathers most of all on how Shion is written. She has a cutting word for her mistress and for the hero alike, and colours when she is praised. Over the three chapters she moves from one of two heroines to the centre of the story. No two characters in the book share a type, and a brightness laced with wordplay runs through the whole.

Published in 2016, it was the second book by Michiking, who had debuted in COMIC Kairakuten in 2013, and the first from that magazine's own publisher, Wani Magazine. Both the comic treatment of the manga business and the Shuujuu series carried over into Azatomaking four years later. In 2025 Shion became a figure, produced to order.

Eighth in the reader-voted Ero-Manga Awards 2016. The book stands 95th among the hall's commercial works.
