A face is where an artist's hand reaches the reader first. Torotoro Muchu stands in the hall because Fumii, in a debut book, made the expressions that shift from scene to scene the spine of the whole volume.
It is a lolicon-genre collection of adult short stories from Akaneshinsha's TENMA COMICS LO imprint. Its eleven pieces first ran in COMIC LO and in the anthology Towako, and two of them form a linked pair around the same character. The official genre tags include school uniform, little sister, incest and healing, and some stories feature characters who are not human at all, such as a god or a demon.
What reviewers agree on most is the range of the faces. Many say it was the cover and the preview pages that made them pick the book up. One review notes that although the stories were drawn at different times, revisions keep the art consistent to the last page. No story closes on a dark ending, and the tone stays bright throughout.
In early 2020 the genre was in the middle of a vogue for the bratty, provocative girl, the so-called mesugaki. Reviews from the time read this book as one built on a different kind of character.
The print and digital editions came out almost together in January 2020. So far it is the only book on record under Fumii's name, a first collection that went straight into the hall. It ranks 216th among the hall's commercial works.
