Prototype Lolita stands in the hall as a collection that won over a specialist magazine's readership through faces and the look in the eyes, without a single coerced plot.

It is an adult collection in the loli genre, the first to gather work published in COMIC LO between 2013 and 2020. It holds eight pieces, one of them drawn for the book. At its centre is the type known as inpio, relationships between children, and some pieces take up incest between siblings or between father and daughter. Readers agree that there is no assault in the book and that every story ends with no one made unhappy.

What readers single out in 40010 Shisakugata's drawing is the faces and the eyes. Boku no Tonari no Souma-san, a linked set of three stories about a sharp-tongued girl who can never quite push the boy away, is the piece most often named as the book's signature. Chinese-language discussion of the artist also exists, and it praises the balance between detail and plotting, and an eye for angles that carry psychology without laying everything bare.

The previous collection, Prototype Mademoiselle, came out from a different publisher and took the top prize at Kono Ero-Manga ga Sugoi!. This book followed more than three years later as the first collected edition of the artist's work in that magazine. The publisher marketed the artist as the one holding first place in the magazine's reader poll, and the book's reception can be read as that support carried over from the magazine. Among the hall's commercial works it stands fifteenth.
