EHOF selects works by the numbers on the record, and does not lightly exclude those whose subjects are difficult. Kurahashi Rio wa Egui Chinpo to Deaitai stands in the hall as a record of a heavy subject taken up by doujin comics in the 2020s, and of how widely it was read.
It is a short work about Kurahashi Rio, a high-school girl orphaned young and taken in by her uncle, who after his death begins papakatsu, paid dating with older men; its subjects are sexual abuse within the family and papakatsu.
The story is carried by Rio's own monologue. Rather than explaining events from outside, it follows one person's inner life through her narration and her face, and it treats its heavy subject in clean, composed drawing.
The artist Nagon published it under the circle name Emoido, following Tadaman-ka in 2022. The main story runs 34 pages. It appeared on FANZA in December 2022 and on DLsite some three and a half months later, in April 2023, and within three months of the DLsite release, official translations in four languages were available. Most of its readership is on the FANZA side.
The word papakatsu begins to appear in DLsite comic titles around 2019, and by 2021 it was established, with more than 40 titles a year. This work arrived after the subject had settled in. It ranks 137th in the doujin hall.
