Anyone who commutes knows the misery of a packed train. Densha Tsuugaku-chuu Kossori Nakadashi Sasetekureru Classmate no Kuroi-san enters the hall as the work that took that daily scene as its starting point and grew a series from it.
A schoolboy who rides a crowded train for an hour each way is pushed by the crush into a spot where he cannot move, right beside Kuroi, a quiet girl from his class. What follows is a school-setting short that sits in the line of on-train chikan stories.
What reviewers agree on is softness, in the characters and on the page. Downcast eyes, a blush, and a few words muttered under her breath are enough to make a taciturn character stand up. Small touches — the crush of rush hour, an office worker holding himself rigid for fear of being falsely accused — lend an impossible turn of events an odd plausibility, and readers laugh at it while they protest that none of this could happen.
It was Hiyashimakura's third release on DLsite, and the third in a run of school stories whose titles announce "the classmate who lets me". The following month, Onna Tomodachi to Sugosu Mattari Icharabu H na Kyuujitsu moved to a setting among working adults. Kuroi's story went on to gain sequels in 2025 and 2026.
It was released in October 2024, and official translations reach five languages. It ranks 133rd in the doujin hall.
