It opens as a straight heroic fantasy and then drops, at the moment of reward, straight into comedy. Yuusha to Hime to Okaa-sama!? stands in the hall as a comedy that makes that drop its weapon.
The circle ie Kenkyuushitsu released this fantasy comedy on DLsite and FANZA in December 2024. A hero who rescued a princess on his way home from defeating the Demon Lord is offered, as his reward, the princess's hand in marriage and a night with her mother, the queen. Its subjects are a mother-in-law and a mother and daughter.
What reviewers agree on most is that it works both as erotica and as gag manga. The comedy turns on "Inko yarou", roughly "you parrot", the insult the princess hurls at the hero, and on her sharp retorts. The drawing, which separates joy, anger, sorrow and delight across her faces, is praised again and again. Because the opening is built carefully, with the weight of a dragon and the hero's dashing entrance, the fall into the reward scene lands hard. Many reviewers also find the queen's presence outweighing the princess's.
The author, ie, gathered short pieces first posted on the patron sites FANBOX and Fantia into a doujinshi, adding newly drawn pages and colour extras. It was the circle's first release on DLsite, and it remains the circle's only work in the hall.
With more than 6,000 ratings on DLsite, it is also a book from a period when doujin comics with mothers and daughters, stepmothers or mothers-in-law in their titles were on the rise. It stands 81st among the hall's doujin works.
