Of the whole series, the book that reached the hall is not the main story that made the circle's name but a 16-page prequel set beside it. Gaming Kanojo EX enters as a small piece that, small as it is, stayed with its readers.
An online game's fixed party is on the verge of breaking up, and Momo, its healer, tries to hold the group together; the book follows that period through separate episodes with three of its members. It is an adult comic whose heroine enters into relationships with several men from her gaming circle, and the episode in which she dresses in her in-game costume is the one readers mention most.
Fujiyama, the artist behind the circle TOZAN:BU, takes a familiar figure, the woman a gaming group crowns its "princess", and draws her as someone pulled two ways: clumsy in her wish not to lose her friends, and honest about her own desires. Several readers say they found a real unease in her. The soft line work and the charm of her expressions come up again and again.
The circle has been active since 2015. This book appeared about seven weeks after Gaming Kanojo in July 2022, grown from a folded booklet distributed at Comic Market 100, and it became the second entry in the flagship series that later continued with Gaming Kanojo 2.
It ranks 80th in the doujin hall. Most of its readership came through FANZA, and what critical comment exists lives almost entirely in store reviews. Official Korean and Indonesian translations have also been released.
