Sex can become a reason to stay alive. Douse Shinu kara, Suki ni Shite is a book built on that single proposition.

Two people who intend to die arrange to meet over the internet and find each other far from anywhere. One of them says out loud that they will die without ever having done it. What starts there is an act performed in order to turn back.

One reader traced the construction of the opening in detail. That his face does not move when he sees her. That he volunteers nothing about himself until prompted. That he is indifferent enough to sex to remember only at the last moment that he has never had it. The accumulation is what persuades the reader that his intention to die was real. And once his aim changes, the artist never explains the reason in dialogue. He simply acts.

What readers write down again and again is the eyes. Into eyes that reflected nothing, late in the book, light enters. Honorific speech drops away. Food tastes of something again. These small changes, all of them placed outside the act itself, carry the passage from pleasure to the will to live.

The circle Yofukashi no Heya only began releasing in 2025, and this is the second book by the artist Yonayona. No official translation exists yet, but in English a fan translation ran to completion and the work acquired a database entry. In the hall it stands twenty-fifth among doujin works, and seventh in the pure-love division.
