A popular form is easiest to see when someone turns it over. Mesugaki ga Arawareta stands in the hall for turning one over and never turning it back.

A salaryman, freshly chewed out by an unreasonable boss, is approached by a girl with a sharp tongue. Set in a shopping mall, it is an adult work of the kind tagged dansei uke, in which the man is the passive party. Mesugaki stories, about a bratty girl who looks down on adults and needles them, had become a fashion in the doujin scene of those years, and the stock way to end one was wakarase: the brat is finally put in her place and made to learn her limits. This book declines the reversal. From her first jab to the last page she keeps her composure, and the moment where she is out-talked never comes. Reader after reader names that absence of a reversal as the heart of the book.

As comedy, the construction is lean. A man's miserable day; a bratty girl's quips cutting into it. That is the whole premise, and thirty-four pages carry it from setup to close without a stall. Readers single out how smoothly it moves and how much it packs into so few pages. The dialogue is printed with coloured balloons and lettering, a touch that stayed in readers' memories as well.

It is the second release from the circle Hamenzu, drawn by its author SAKULA. The listing offered a cover and little else, so buyers relied on one another's reviews, and many mention first spotting it in ads. That chain built up more than twenty thousand ratings, and by 2024 two sequels had followed.
