A circle can clear the gate with its very first book. Tonari no Onee-san ga Erosugite Shikottetara Kossori Nuite Kureta Hanashi was the first thing FDSP ever released, and it stands in the hall.
The setting is a seat on an overnight coach with the lights out. The woman asleep beside him tips over onto him, he cannot hold still, and he is seen. The other passengers are asleep; a raised voice would end it. The whole thing plays out on that one narrow seat.
The pages carry almost no background. Neither the window nor the cabin is worked up, and still the feel of a night bus survives. What fills the space instead are large panels taken from very close to the face and body, and framing that sits over the protagonist's own line of sight. An off-the-shoulder ribbed sweater, stockings torn open, the soft line of a stomach: readers keep naming the handling of clothes that are never quite removed. The man stays out of the way, and it is the reader who occupies the neighbouring seat. Sakagaki, the artist behind the circle, carries the whole book on angle and distance alone.
Of the forty-three pages, the back half is the same art with the dialogue stripped out. A version to be read and a version not to be read, folded into one book.
The circle has gone on making the same request the centre of every book since. An optional audio track turns this one into a voiced comic. Eighth among doujin manga in the hall.
