Half the face stays hidden behind a mask, and the eyes alone carry every feeling. Hirowareta Onna no Ko to Ojisan no Hanashi stands in the hall for holding to that single design from the first page to the last.
On a rainy night, a middle-aged man takes in a runaway girl with nowhere left to go. As they live together, it emerges that he has been seeing his own past in her. It is an adult one-shot built on the themes of running away from home, living under one roof, and a gap in age.
Shouji Nigou, the artist behind the circle Uchuusen Shoujigou, introduced it as the story of a girl who wears a mask in nearly every panel, and while drawing it wrote of the care taken over a fringe falling across the eyes. Readers agree on the point: she almost never takes the mask off, yet the expression around her eyes alone conveys every shift of feeling. Reviews credit the story and the art alike, and one reader names it a particular favourite among runaway stories.
Following Me-tsuki no Warui Kurasu no Ano Ko of 2020, it went on sale on DLsite and FANZA on the same day in April 2021 and was read most widely on FANZA. The following summer its author was still reposting the opening pages on X; well after release, it remained the circle's calling card.
In spring 2021 masks were part of everyday dress. One might read the work against that atmosphere, though neither the author nor readers draw the connection. Titles about runaways or someone being taken in also grew more common from around this time. It stands 97th among the hall's doujin works.
