First-time stories in adult manga are mostly told from the boy's side. "Shojo ga Doutei to no Hatsutaiken de Mezamechau Hanashi" enters the hall for handing the narration to the girl.

It is a pure-love work in the first-time genre: a student couple, each the other's first partner, drawing closer. The story pivots on a single point, the moment something wakes in her as she watches how untried he is. From there on, it is she who moves the relationship forward.

Her interior monologue runs the whole length of the book. What she is thinking and how she sees him are read at the same moment as the image, and readers on both stores call it a way of telling that only comics can manage. They also note, again and again, that every move she makes is motivated by one thing, wanting to see how he will react. The remark that the book reads well from a woman's point of view follows from that design.

Dojiro, working as the circle Dojiro Books, assembled the five chapters first posted on social media and a paid support site, and added newly drawn pages. The circle also has a collection of its Twitter comics, and the book is one example of a route in which a serial read for free grows into supporter content and then a doujin volume.

The series has since run to a fourth instalment, and both "Shojo ga Doutei to no Hatsutaiken de Mezamechau Hanashi 2" and the third volume have entered the hall too. Fan translation carried it into English, where it has an entry in the reference databases, and comments in English and Chinese sit on the store page beside the Japanese ones. It stands 20th among doujin works and sixth in the pure-love division.
