Where should a newcomer start the series? Readers give the same answer, and it is this book. Tomodachi no Mama ga Boku no Dekachin de Ikimakutta Oshougatsu Otoshidama Soushuuhen stands in the hall for its role as the way in.

Released as a FANZA exclusive on New Year's Day 2023, it is the first omnibus of RK-2's series. It gathers the three episodes released up to that point and adds a new seven-page story set on a first shrine visit of the year. The series as a whole follows a married woman, the mother of the narrator's friend, and a younger boy, with an age gap and an affair as its subjects.

Reviewers agree in treating it as the book to recommend to those who have not yet read the series. The titles alone make the release order hard to follow, and here it can be read straight through from the beginning. Some say the early episodes have not aged, and the added New Year story, with its kimono, leaves something new even for readers who already own the earlier books.

Its average rating is the highest of the three works from the series in the hall. It entered the hall alongside the first and second episodes it collects, so all three stand there together.

It reached first place in FANZA's overall 24-hour doujin ranking. The series has continued since, and a second omnibus followed in 2025. It stands 101st among the hall's doujin works.
