Pull apart the age a body shows and the years a life has run. Sokuochi Loli Babaa builds six stories on that single device and lands each of them on a different ending.
A jiangshi, a cat spirit, an elf, a deathless magician, an oni. The settings scatter across East and West, past and present. Only one thing holds across them all: the man is the one who will age first. The title advertises an instant surrender, yet most of the stories carry the whole distance from first meeting to parting.
Sumiyao composes in contrast: a small, slight body against a man drawn heavy in the bone. What readers note with surprise is that the male leads receive no less care than the heroines. They are handsome, and usually the more level-headed of the pair. The sex is drawn through to cross-sections while the storytelling opens in ordinary daylight and closes quietly, and each story makes that round trip.
It is the first collection by an artist who had long worked in self-published circles, gathering stories that ran in Towako.
