Jouzu ni Pyupyu Dekiru Kana? stands in the hall as the artist's first collection, eight stories held together by one idea: a gentle voice and a lead that never slackens, offered by the same hand.

It is an adult collection of the onee-shota kind, about older women — nursery teachers, a nun, an older club member, a demon who drinks away years — and boys. The stories come from Girls forM, a magazine that printed only work in which the man is on the receiving end, and not one of them reverses the roles.

What readers record over and over is the gap between the book the soft cover led them to expect and the impression it leaves at the end. The words stay kind throughout, and the stories never loosen to match them. One reader went so far as to call it, against appearances, a frightening book. Others add that a good many panels are framed from striking camera angles. Refusing to keep tenderness and the upper hand in separate rooms is the idea this volume stands on.

HANABi had pursued the same subject in self-published work. It appeared in 2018 from Akaneshinsha's TENMACOMICS G4M imprint, 188 pages, and one of its stories was later adapted as an audio work. That a collection from a magazine devoted to one particular taste reached the hall is also a record that the taste formed a readership of its own. Among the hall's commercial works it stands twenty-eighth.
