APPRECIATION ── BY EHOF

A little sister's single-minded love for her brother runs through the whole book. Oniichan ga, Suki. stands in the hall for sustaining that one feeling across ten stories through the range of its characters.

It is an adult collection of brother-and-sister stories about girls devoted to a big brother, either their own or a young man from the neighbourhood, and official listings file it under little sister, girl, loli and incest. Most of the stories are one-shots that ran in Comic 0EX between 2008 and 2009.

Readers agree above all on the characterisation. A sister who cannot be honest, a strong-willed sister in glasses, an innocent one: in every story each arrives at her feelings for her brother. The sweetness, never broken by dark turns, is also why readers call it a book they can read at ease. A review published right after release singled out the unusual final story, Akina.

Inuboshi debuted in Comic POT in 2003; this sixth collection was the first with Core Magazine.

The print edition came out in February 2010 and placed sixth on Toranoana's weekly chart in its first week. That year, Tokyo was debating a revision of its youth ordinance that would extend to sexual expression in manga. In the Eromanga Taisho reader vote for the year, the book tied for second with Higashiyama Show's Japanese Preteen Suite, and together with the winner, Chuu Gakusei Nikki, all three top places went to books depicting girls and little sisters. The digital edition followed from 2012. It ranks 161st among commercial works.
