Life under one roof with two new stepsisters, played as a bright school harem. Girigiri Sisters stands in the hall as the second book, the one in which Kisaragi Gunma built what would become a signature formula into a title series, and as a book that kept selling through the print era.
At its core is the four-chapter title series about strong-willed Mion and her friendly younger sister Kotone, who become the protagonist's stepsisters when their parents remarry, and Azusa, the classmate he has long admired; one-shots and a side story fill out the adult collection. The official genre labels include sisters and harem, and one story takes incest with a biological older sister as its subject.
Readers converge on the contrast between the sisters: the elder cannot be honest about her feelings and the younger has no such trouble, and the difference sets the three-way relationship in motion. They also agree on the cheerfulness with which the harem plays out, free of dark turns, and on the quality of the drawing.
Kisaragi Gunma debuted in Comic Megastore in 2004, and this was the second collection, after Love Selection. With Mai FAVORITE and Sweethearts the artist would go on to top specialty-store charts again and again.
The print edition appeared in August 2007. It tied for second place in that year's Eromanga Taisho reader vote and placed sixth in FANZA's annual mail-order ranking of printed books, and three years later, in 2010, it was still 21st. The digital edition followed from 2013. It ranks 160th among commercial works.
