To draw a body that is not human, and not blur it. Kininaru Ano Musume wa Monster Musume enters the hall on that one point.

Lamia, harpy, centaur, scylla, succubus, dullahan, kappa, arachne, hedgehog. All ten heroines are non-human, and the human girls have withdrawn to the position of friends. Most of the pieces end with the one who could not say it getting what she wanted.

Horitomo turns the biology of a species straight into the logic of a scene: a harpy whose stuck egg has to be worked loose, a kappa whose back, hidden under the shell, is where she is weakest, a dullahan whose head sits apart from her body. The premise works as staging rather than as excuse, so the non-human parts stay on the page to the last. In a field where many hands skip past exactly that, it is why this book has been named as the way in.

A sixth volume, from an artist who kept working in Comic Unreal. An interest that began with two early books about tentacles came into focus here, with every heroine non-human. The years also coincide with the publisher opening a separate line devoted to monster girls.

Published in 2015. Two English-language databases carry entries. Twenty-second among the hall's commercial works, alongside the same artist's Unreal Syndrome.
