Kininaru Ano Musume wa Monster Musume stands in the hall for drawing bodies that are not human without blurring them, and for being named again and again as the way into the monster-girl field.

It is an adult collection of ten stories set in a present day where humans and non-humans live side by side, each with a non-human heroine: lamia, harpy, centaur, dullahan, kappa, arachne, hedgehog and more. Pure romance in school and home settings is at its core, and only the centaur story contains a non-consensual scene.

Horitomo turns the biology and anatomy of each species straight into the mechanics of the story. As in the dullahan piece, whose head sits apart from her body, the premise works not as an excuse but as the logic that moves the plot, and the non-human parts never leave the page. In a field where many works fudge the strange anatomy, a number of readers name this book as their introduction.

A review from the time of publication noted that every heroine was now non-human, and observed that pure romance was no longer an anomaly in Comic Unreal. The book also coincides with the years when the publisher began issuing monster girls as a dedicated supplement. It is the artist's sixth collection, and the interest that began with two early books about tentacles can be read as coming into focus here.

It stands 22nd among the hall's commercial works, alongside the same artist's Unreal Syndrome.
