Two months after reaching print, it was chosen for a category prize by an outside selection, and that record brought it through EHOF's award gate. Suiteki Shoujo stands in the hall as a collection that holds the reader through its inventive composition.
Set in everyday places such as a school clubroom or a shared home, it is a collection about young men and women drawn as students. Nine chapters combine two serials, the two-part Royal Hunt and the three-part Ubatama Shojo, with four standalone stories. Ubatama Shojo follows a girl with no family who comes to live in the protagonist's house as a prospective bride.
Reviewers agree on the variety of the framing, with its carefully chosen angles, and on the density of the drawn page. Separate readers on DLsite and on FANZA name the same strengths.
Uba Yoshiyuki's first book was Houkago no Sukima in 2015, and this is the second collection of short work. The artist would later turn to long harem-centred works such as Harem Spiral, which makes this book the high point of the period of short stories and serials.
It came out in print from Core Magazine in June 2017 and that year received a category prize in Kono Ero-Manga ga Sugoi! 2017. Implicity and Ikkyu Nyukon were among the category winners in the same edition. It is the artist's only work in the hall and ranks 140th among commercial works.
