From the first collection, happy stories and stories without mercy were set side by side in the same book. Onnanoko no Omocha stands in the hall as the debut volume of a newcomer, Sabaku, gathering ten stories drawn for COMIC LO.
It is an adult anthology in the lolicon line. Story by story it takes up the relationships between girls and the adults or boys around them: a young heiress and a driver, a tutor and a pupil, twin sisters, children who share a classroom. Some stories turn on an age gap or on incest, and some are dark ones involving violence and bullying.
The publisher introduced the newcomer by pointing to a delicate line and dense, worked-over drawing. What readers agree on is the craft with which a full story is built inside a few pages, and faces that stop the reader without warning. Several also note the pacing that comes from placing dark stories after happy ones, and endings that leave a bitter aftertaste or a question behind.
One story in the book, Suiyoubi no Yoruko-san, already carries the name Yoruko-san, which would later head the title of Sabaku's third collection. By 2025 the artist's collections under the same imprint numbered four.
The print edition came out in April 2019 from Akaneshinsha's TENMA COMICS LO, and the digital edition followed the same month. It placed 29th in the 2019 adult manga bestseller list at Toranoana's Akihabara A store. It stands 195th among the hall's commercial works.
