Shoujo Hakanashi Chirase yo Otome stands in the hall as the first adult collection by Kanro Ame, an artist known for comic adaptations for general readers, and a book that shows a wide range of characters and settings.
Published in Akaneshinsha's TENMA COMICS LO line, it is a collection of nine stories with girls as protagonists, classified in the loli genre. The stories take up relationships between step-siblings, cousins, an uncle and niece, and teachers and pupils, among others, many involving kinship or a gap in age, and one includes non-consensual elements.
What readers agree on is the range of characters and settings. From a two-part story about a stepsister who arrives from the tropics to a piece about the search for an ageless girl on a remote southern island, the settings stretch from homes and schools to faraway shores. Readers are equally agreed on a cheerful tone with no grim endings. The second part of the two-part story picks up two years later, and each story is followed by a single panel showing what came afterwards.
Kanro Ame worked on comic adaptations for KADOKAWA, among them Maitetsu, before this book appeared in 2019. From 2022 a book has appeared every year from changing publishers, among them Saimin Chiryou Hajimemashita, with a return to Akaneshinsha in 2024 for Nani ga Dame nan desu ka?
No award is on record; what carried the book into the hall was its sales. It stands 71st among the hall's commercial works.
