APPRECIATION ── BY EHOF

It takes a subject of its moment, the hidden face people keep on social media, and builds a lively school comedy around it. Uraaka Otome Hatsujouki stands in the hall as Mareo's first book.

Published under Bunendo's BAVEL COMICS imprint, it pairs the linked series Jimiko no Uraaka o Hakken Shitara Bitch Datta!? with three short stories. A male student learns that the plain class representative runs a secret social-media account, and through her he becomes entangled with other girls at the same school. The official genre tags include childhood friend, older-sister type and bitch, and the book contains non-consensual elements.

Readers point first to the art, cute and neatly finished. After the class representative come an upperclassman, a younger student, a delinquent and the school nurse, each a different type, and this ensemble construction keeps the tone bright throughout. The series fills roughly 70 percent of the 199 pages and is left open at the end of the volume.

It reached its conclusion in a second volume, published in print in April 2024. Of Mareo's seven books on DLsite Books, this is the one that entered the hall.

It was released digitally on FANZA in May 2020 and on DLsite the following month. In a rough count of titles alone, commercial works with uraaka, slang for a secret account, in their titles rose from 2019 onward, and the book can be read as one from the years when the word was settling into use. It stands 124th among the hall's commercial works.

The figures are an automated tally of public data from DLsite (commercial) and FANZA Books; nothing is adjusted by hand. The score and the ranking follow the formulas published in full in the Selection Criteria. The appreciation text is written by EHOF and has no connection to the rights holders or the retailer.
