It follows the relationships around a man who already has a girlfriend as they come apart, and declines to tidy them up. Aka stands in the hall having been read, bitterness and all, as manga in the full sense.
The collection gathers work from 2015 to 2021, chiefly from comic Anthurium. One-shots such as a romance between a convenience store clerk and a customer surround the linked series Himitsu, which follows a man with a girlfriend and the women around him. Its subject is infidelity of the kind Japanese readers call gyaku-netorare, in which the attached man is the one who strays, and the characters share a single world, turning up at the edges of one another's stories.
The line is praised first: quick yet never rough, with motion in every panel. A Chinese-language reviewer likened its sharpness to a razor. Himitsu shifts its point of view from chapter to chapter, centering a different woman each time, and its plausible relationships draw readers in; many would rather judge it as manga than as adult entertainment.
It is Ikuhana Niiro's second adult collection, following the 2018 book published in English as Intimate Days, and it includes Hiraki Naori, the artist's first adult work. Ikuhana Niiro also serializes in general-audience magazines.
The print edition came out from GOT in August 2021 and within four months placed second for the year at Toranoana's Akihabara A store. It also took second place in Kono Ero-Manga ga Sugoi! 2021 from Weekly SPA!, the record on which it entered EHOF. It stands 108th among the hall's commercial works.
