A harem is not a matter of headcount. Heart Mark Oome. 3 is the book that took three volumes to demonstrate it.
A trip is won in a raffle, and for the week before departure the stepsister and the classmate feed the protagonist a stimulant, forbid him to come, and keep goading him. The first half of the thirty-one page story is given over entirely to that withholding. Release arrives only after they reach the resort.
Miyamoto Issa, who draws it, works by closing in rather than pulling back. Instead of watching a long act from a fixed camera, the panels cut out single instants of tangled bodies and often drop to the height of a participant's own eyes. Sweat and humidity stay on the paper; mouths are drawn thick. One reader counted kisses on nineteen pages. The heart marks of the title are the symbols that float in the dialogue, and they have multiplied with each volume.
The first book paired him with the stepsister, the second with the classmate, and the third puts all three in one room. Three years separate it from the second. What earns it the name of a summation is that as the number rose, everyone in it is shown wanting the others with equal heat. The following year the artist published a commercial volume carrying on the same title, Heart Mark Motto Oome., through Core Magazine.
It was handed out at Comic Market 100, the fourth release from the circle NOSEBLEED. All three volumes of the series are in the hall, and of them this one stands first in the harem category.
