The second book of a series is easily reduced to a bridge. Heart Mark Oome. 2 stands in the hall as a sequel that gave the world of the first book a new centre and opened the road to a story of three.
It is the second entry in a series about a young protagonist, his stepsister, who draws adult manga, and a classmate, a dark-tanned gyaru who reads her work. Where the first book centred on the stepsister, this one puts the classmate at its heart and draws the two as a couple whose feelings run both ways. The official genre tag is lovey-dovey, and the step-sibling bond carries over into the gyaru story.
Readers agree on how far it moved from its predecessor. Several note that the heart marks of the title have multiplied and that the whole book has turned warmer. A brisk pace that folds the introductions into a few strokes is also praised. The stepsister steps into the role of matchmaker, with her real intentions revealed only at the end. In the latter half all three share a scene, and the book closes on a hook toward a trip in the next volume.
Miyamoto Issa, the artist behind the circle NOSEBLEED, had been putting out printed doujinshi since before 2019. This book was a new release at Comic Market 96, seven months after the first. In 2023 the artist published two commercial volumes.
It can also be read as a book of the years when the word gyaru was spreading through doujin titles. It stands 52nd among the hall's doujin works.
