The everyday lives of six girls, arranged as a single suite. Japanese Preteen Suite stands in the hall for the construction of its linked stories.
Set at school and in daily life, it is an adult collection of linked stories that gives each of six friends a chapter as protagonist, then brings them all together in a closing two-part story. The girls are drawn as elementary-school children, and official listings file the book under loli, girl and school; a brother and his younger sister are among its subjects.
What readers agree on is the density of everyday life. Through casual exchanges between friends, through clothing and through scenery with a lived-in feel, each girl emerges as a person with a mind of her own. The pairing of economically drawn faces with realistically rendered clothes and backgrounds is also praised as a balance between the stylised and the real.
Higashiyama Show debuted in COMIC LO in 2006, and this third collection came four years later. Its method of shifting the point of view chapter by chapter while building up one shared world carries forward to Implicity, seven years on.
The print edition appeared in March 2010 and placed 52nd in the hundred-book all-time ranking at Toranoana's Akihabara Store A. In the Eromanga Taisho reader vote for 2010 it tied for second place with Inuboshi's Oniichan ga, Suki. The digital edition followed at the end of 2012. It ranks 163rd among commercial works.
