One relationship, brother and sister, made to carry everything from happy endings to bitter ones. Suki de Suki de, Suki de stands in the hall for that range and for the emotional construction that sustains it.
All eight stories concern a brother and a younger sister: it is an adult collection given over entirely to the sibling subject, and the official genre tags include little sister and incest. The closing novelette, Futagokoro, takes a netorare triangle as its subject, in which a brother and sister who care for each other but cannot say so find the brother's best friend coming between them.
What readers agree on is the weight of the storytelling. Events are shown from the brother's side and from the sister's, so that what each really felt surfaces only later, and the drawing of faces carries those feelings. Feelings here are not always returned; sweet stories and stories without consolation share the same covers.
Okada Kou made a commercial debut in 2006, and this third collection came five years later. Reviewers at the time read it as a turn away from the sweetness of the artist's previous book, Chuu Gakusei Nikki.
The print edition came out in April 2011, topped Toranoana's weekly chart in its first week, and later held 26th place in the hundred-book all-time ranking at the chain's Akihabara Store A. In the Eromanga Taisho reader vote it placed second for 2011; with the previous book first the year before, Okada Kou had finished in the top two three years running. An OVA adaptation and the digital edition followed the next year. It ranks 156th among commercial works.
