Loli to Bokura no. stands in the hall as Quzilax's first collection: short stories of irony and satire told in a rounded, soft-edged hand, a book that went on selling for years in print.
It is an adult collection of nine short stories from COMIC LO, a magazine devoted to the loli genre, with one newly drawn piece. Its official genres include loli and kichiku, the label for cruel stories.
Readers converge on the gap between the gentle drawing and the dark themes and tightly reasoned, ironic turns of plot. The mood shifts from one story to the next, ranging from the grave to the comic. Several readers also note that the closing piece, unremarkable on its own, takes on a different meaning when the book is read through.
Quzilax debuted in COMIC RiN in 2008 and won the LO Manga Prize the following year. Twelve years passed before the next collection, Utaite no Ballad. In 2017, press reports about a different doujinshi brought the artist's name into a wide debate over the regulation of expression.
The print edition came from Akaneshinsha in November 2012. That year it placed second in the Eromanga Taisho reader vote and third for the year at Toranoana's Akihabara Store A, and it holds fourth on that store's all-time list. It was still in FANZA's annual mail-order ranking of print comics in 2015, three years after release. DLsite began distributing it in December 2015. It stands 83rd among the hall's commercial works.
