A long-running game series can be sustained from the side of comics, too. Inyouchuu Shoku ~Ryoushokutou Taimaroku~ Harami Ochiru Shoujotachi stands in the hall as the work that carried TinkerBell's Inyouchuu, a series begun in 2005, into a single volume of manga.
Its source is an adult game released in 2006. A string of disappearances among swimmers draws a team of young exorcists, twin sisters and their childhood friend, to a resort island, where they fall one by one to the demons that haunt it. It belongs to the ryoujoku, or violation, genre, with tentacles, interspecies encounters and bodily transformation among its listed themes, and it ends with no one saved.
Readers agree first that it captures the flow and atmosphere of the game faithfully. Toward the end it also offers developments of its own that depart from the source, and some readers single out the beauty of the character art. The eight chapter titles, opening with "Kamikakushi no Shima" (The Island of the Spirited Away), are set throughout in an old-fashioned mix of kanji and katakana.
This is chaccu's sixth collected book, published six and a half years after Inyouchuu ~Ryoushoku Gakuen Taimaroku~, an earlier adaptation from the same TinkerBell series. It was first serialized in the digital anthology Heroine Pinch. It closes the stretch in which chaccu built long works on licensed sources; two years later, with Seijo no Kenshin, the artist moved on to long stories of chaccu's own plotting.
Published in 2016, it became in turn the source for an anime the following year. It ranks 193rd among the hall's commercial works.
