When a second book keeps the same subject, what has to change is the vessel. Ikusa Otome, Kairaku ni Nomare Iku stands in the hall as the second book in which Shi-aru widened the frame of the storytelling by building it around a three-chapter novella.
To pieces first published in anthologies and elsewhere it adds the three-part Kami wo Mushibamu Mono and a newly drawn epilogue, nine stories in all. Its heroines are fighters, magical girls and female ninja among them, and each falls to her enemy: it belongs to the heroine-defeat genre. The subjects range across futanari, tentacles, vore, women together and non-consent. The novella follows a band of girl knights fighting over the fate of a world in which futanari transformation is spreading.
Reviewers agree on the construction. Futanari stays at the centre, but the other elements are recombined from story to story, and several readers write that a book this narrowly focused never turns monotonous. The novella is said to open out in its later chapters and to leave a bittersweet ending. Readers also point to the work on facial expression and to the design of the costumes.
Shi-aru's four solo books, published between 2014 and 2022, all came out from Kill Time Communication's Nijigen Dream Comics imprint, and this is the second of them.
The print edition appeared in February 2016 and the digital edition the following month. Among commercial works on DLsite, titles containing the word futanari rose from 9 in 2015 to 29 in 2016 and 38 in 2017. It ranks 213th among the hall's commercial works.
