The fighting heroine who falls to her enemy belongs to a long line in adult manga. Ikusa Otome, Kyouraku ni Shizumiiku brings carefully built worlds of fantasy and science fiction into that line, and it stands in the hall as Shi-aru's third collection.
Nine stories are gathered here, each following a heroine who fights and is beaten by her enemy: a magical girl, a swordswoman, an adventurer, the captain of a starship, a woman officer of an evil organisation, and others. It is a collection in the tradition of heroine-defeat and corruption stories, and in the words of the official genre tags its material ranges across violation, tentacles, inter-species encounters, hypnosis and futanari.
Readers agree first on the appeal of the character designs and the strength of the drawing. After that come the breadth of the settings, the care put into the premises, and the weight given to story. Several readers single out the idea in Isshou Solo Play, a suit of armour that grants power at a price.
The artist's first collection was Ikusa Otome, Haiboku no Nare no Hate in 2014, followed by Ikusa Otome, Kairaku ni Nomare Iku in 2016; this is the third. The books do not connect directly as stories, but a shared enemy runs across the volumes.
The print edition came out in November 2018 in Kill Time Communication's 2D Dream Comics line. The publisher has long run anthology series built around the defeat of fighting heroines, renaming them as they went. It stands 122nd among the hall's commercial works.
