Body Complex is orico's first collection, coloured from its first page to its last, and it stands in the hall having left a record both on bookshop shelves and with an industry jury.
It belongs to Wanimagazine's WANIMAGAZINE COMICS SPECIAL line, the work of an artist who had also drawn covers for COMIC Shitsurakuten. Its twelve short stories each centre on a woman in a different walk of life: a doctor, a married woman, a coach, a mechanic and others.
Readers agree first that every page is in full colour, and then that the drawing is fine and careful throughout. Several add that although each story is short, twelve of them give the book more weight than its page count would suggest. Single reviews note that the stories open in everyday settings rather than drifting into fantasy, and that many of them close on a quiet aftertaste.
The print edition appeared in July 2015; the digital edition followed on FANZA that December and on DLsite in March 2016. The artist went on publishing in the same magazine and brought out a second collection, Musaboru Onna, in 2020. Both books placed high in the first-half rankings at Toranoana Akihabara Store A.
In its year of publication this book placed nineteenth in the same store's annual bestseller list, and at Kono Ero-Manga ga Sugoi! 2015 it was one of four category prize winners. It stands 137th among the hall's commercial works.
