In a first collection, an artist laid out on one table the full range of relationships they could draw. Mesukko Daisuki stands in the hall as Airandou's point of departure.
It is an adult short-story collection with girls as its protagonists, built mainly from nine self-contained stories. Teacher and pupil, brother and sister, older sister and younger brother, the daughter of a single mother next door, a young relative who comes to stay for the summer holidays: each story swaps in a different everyday relationship. Its subjects are sibling incest and an age gap.
Where readers agree is the differentiation of character: temperament and upbringing seep into each person's words and actions. Many single out the older-sister story, a rarity for this artist, as the collection's surprise, and the reviews converge on its bright tone, with no story ending on a sour note. One reader, looking at the design notes included as a store bonus, saw how the chapter breaks were planned against the page count of each episode, and traced the smoothness of the storytelling back to that preparation.
Airandou was named among the recipients of the fifteenth LO Manga Prize, run by COMIC LO, in 2019, and has worked mainly in that magazine since. About a year later, in January 2020, this book appeared from Akaneshinsha as the artist's first commercial collection.
By EHOF's own count, more commercial works in the hall date from 2020 than from any other year, and works centred on girls make up a little over a third of them. This one came out at the very start of that year. It stands 65th among the hall's commercial works.
