A girl smoking outside a man's room offers him a bargain if he will keep her smoking to himself. She then disappears, and two years later she comes back, no longer in elementary school but in middle school. It is an adult serial whose official genre tags include loli, and it carries heavy subject matter: a wide age gap, a troubled home, compensated dating, and a relationship that begins without consent. A single comic short story completes the volume.
What readers single out, almost with one voice, is how the story unfolds. As it goes on, the reasons the girl kept coming to the man's room and the family circumstances closing in on her come to light, and the man begins to act on her behalf. Many read its structure, which carries heavy material yet closes warmly, as the human drama of one girl, bearing out the publisher's billing of the author as a born storyteller. The appealing character designs and the strength of the drawing are mentioned again and again.
Suzuki Kyotaro debuted in COMIC Aun in 2008 and was known from the start for draftsmanship. After a run of bright, comic books, the artist turned to heavy human drama in this volume, the first in two years, published twelve years after that debut.
It entered through the sales gate. In the Eromanga Taisho for 2020 it tied for third place, and it ranks 100th in the commercial hall.
