Widen the setting from a single house to a whole housing estate, and a harem becomes the story of a community. Danchi no Naka wa Boku no Harem holds its place in the hall for that scale, the largest Omina Tachibana ever attempted.
It is an adult harem story in which a boy takes a part-time job as caretaker of a vast housing estate where only women live, and is gradually welcomed in by the residents. They range from married women to students and differ in age, skin and hair colour. The estate's secret, that every one of them belongs to a single bloodline, forms the backbone of the plot.
At the centre of the reviews is the skill of the character work: there is no single leading heroine, and each of the many residents is given her own face and temperament. Readers also point to the way the mystery of the secret runs through the whole story as one thread. One reads the estate as a village-like community, a hidden settlement in the present day.
Serialised in Buster Comic as Boku wa Minna no Kanrinin, it was retitled and published in print in November 2015 as the artist's third collected volume.
In DMM's annual mail-order chart of adult comics it ranked 14th in its year of release and climbed to tenth the year after, and it had reached a fourth printing by the end of 2017. Only after that, in April 2019, did a digital edition appear for the first time. In 2026 it returned to print in a best-of omnibus together with the previous volume. It stands 245th among the hall's commercial works.
