How does a single comic show two scenes running at the same time? "Onii-san, Watashitachi to Ocha Shimasen ka?" is a book that answered the question.

On a street at night, two men are approached by two gyaru in school uniform. The business is an anime collaboration cafe, where they need extra people to keep ordering until the merchandise for their favourite character turns up. The men end up covering most of the bill, and the two pairings begin as thanks for it. It is a student gyaru story that opens with the girls doing the picking up.

From there the book splits in two and runs in parallel in separate places. Kamizuki Shiki, the artist behind the circle Kamishiki, braids the pairs together at the turn of the page. By not folding all four into one scene, the book keeps the separate breathing of its contrasting silver-haired and black-haired heroines.

Several readers point to its bright tone, free of gloom or guilt. One might read the contemporary culture of fan merchandise as what set the lightness of the whole series.

The series became the circle's signature and now runs past ten main instalments. The first five all stand in the doujin hall, four of them released within 2022. This one, which fixed the characters, sits highest of them at twenty-sixth.
