Adult manga does not have to run on guilt. Doutei Danshi Kousei Iinkai holds that position for a whole volume, and stands in the hall for holding it.

The title sequence puts schoolgirls on the teaching side of a first time. The other pillar, a serial set in an island fishing village, imagines a place where coupling carries no awkwardness at all. In every chapter the women move because they are enjoying themselves, not because they were asked. No shadow falls anywhere.

Tamagoro's pages are bright and, above all, legible. The outlines are cleaned up and the tone shadows sit only where they are needed. Readers point specifically at the placement of the cutaway diagrams and the sound effects, and at how everything from nipple to genital form is varied from character to character. The dialogue is short: pleasure named as pleasure, wanting named as wanting. That plainness is what keeps the book bright.

Three years after the debut, this is a third collection. What is new here is a sequence that puts an older woman on the guiding side of an inexperienced boy. Characters from the earlier books turn up again, so that a volume of short pieces reads as one continuous world. The artist stayed with the same publisher throughout and was later taken into that house's fortieth-anniversary anthology.

Tenth among the commercial works in the hall. Nine years on, new reader comments are still accumulating at both storefronts.
