A long story will sometimes change its vessel when the curtain rises a third time. Raikou Shinki Aigis Magia: PANDRA saga 3rd ignition enters the hall as the opening volume of the saga's third part, which recast the PANDRA world as an ensemble drama of myth and combat.
The royal academy of magic from the first two parts is still the stage. Just as the second part handed the lead to Unico, this one moves the student council president, a figure who had stood at the margins, to the centre. Twelve relatives bearing the names of the Olympian gods then meet in an elimination tournament for the headship of the academy. Seven chapters of the title story are joined by three short pieces set in the same world. Official genre listings file it under school life and fantasy, with shota and married-woman tags attached as well; it is a work for adult readers.
Several readers write that grounding the story in the war between the Olympians and the Titans opened the world up. Combat now carries more of the weight, and a large cast of relatives, varied in age, bearing and temperament, is kept distinct on the page. The review at publication called the drawing dynamic, settled in its manner without losing its individuality.
It is the tenth book by Erect Sawaru, who debuted in 2005, and the print edition appeared at the end of October 2017. The third part ran to four volumes and closed in 2022, the same year it was adapted as an OVA.
It stands 81st in the commercial hall. Reader reviews have kept coming in from the year of publication into 2025.
