Breaking up a tournament halfway through is a device shōnen manga has spent decades refining. Raikou Shinki Aigis Magia: PANDRA saga 3rd ignition 2 stands in the hall as the volume that carried that device into a long-form adult story.

It collects the next nine chapters of the title story, and the contest for the academy's headship reaches its climax. Midway through, one character changes abruptly and something sealed beneath the academy is set loose. The review at publication likened this change of course to the boys' magazines of an earlier era, and readers keep singling out the hook on which the volume ends. Official genre listings file it under school life and fantasy, with hypnosis and married-woman tags as well; it is a work for adult readers.

Each chapter runs to roughly 24 pages, and drawing and storytelling alike are packed densely into them. Readers agree that it holds up as a story even apart from its sexual content. Where the first volume welcomed newcomers, this one is written for those who have read what came before.

The print edition came out in March 2019, about a year and a half after the first volume, as Erect Sawaru's eleventh book. The first part closed in two volumes and the second in three; the third stretched to four, the longest part of the saga.

In the half-year of its release it placed 23rd among adult manga bestsellers at Toranoana's Akihabara store A. It stands 90th in the commercial hall.
