An artist known for extremity opened the door wider by working inside the frame of a bright comedy. Isekai Shoukan stands in the hall as the record of that turn in Shiina Kazuki's career and as the first of a four-volume series.

A young man, Mizuki, is reborn in another world where a god has caused the arts of love beyond procreation to be forgotten. Taken on for his skill as a "brothel master", he joins a house staffed by non-human women and draws on his past life to make it flourish. It is a comic adult serial that crosses the reincarnation-in-another-world genre with the running of a brothel, and the book also carries a separate three-part story set in a family of exorcists.

The setting is a brothel, but there is no darkness; the story moves brightly and centres on consensual relationships. The cow girl, the tiger girl, the madam Diena, the dark elf who arrives later: each species has its own temperament, and the assurance of the drawing, with its vivid expressions, is praised again and again.

Shiina had long been known for extreme imagery that extends to body modification. Here it is held in check, and a contemporary review and readers on two stores agree that the fantasy setting and its beast-folk make the work easier to enter. The book appeared in 2019, at the height of the isekai boom, and readers dubbed it an adult take on the narou-kei web-novel fantasy. It can be read as borrowing the shape of a trend to carry the artist's particular gifts to a wider audience.

It was the ninth book, published fourteen years after the first, and the series held its ratings all the way to the fourth volume in 2024. It entered through the sales gate and ranks 149th in the commercial hall.
