Yui-chan Satsueikai enters the hall as a collection that turns an unsettled aftertaste into the very core of the work.

It is an adult collection in the loli genre, twelve short stories each centered on a girl. Most are set in everyday places, a photo session, a sweet shop, a wooded corner of a park, and they depict relationships between girls and adult men. No protagonist runs through them. Titles such as Dagashi no Yuzu-chan, Kaiketsu!! Shikaeshi-Man and Shihougen no Yoru are enough to suggest the range of approaches.

Kitani Shii's line is soft, in a style readers describe as sitting between realism and caricature. What the stories contain is not bright. Even so, several readers write that the adults are given circumstances, private shame and the strain of their working lives, and are not set up as simple villains. Many endings leave the reader thinking about what becomes of the people after the last page. Readers most often name the book's aftertaste as an unsteady balance that looks ready to collapse and never quite does.

Kitani's first adult volume was Otome no Ren'ai Jouji in 2007, which placed fifth in that year's readers' poll. The work went on through serialisations for general audiences, and this remains, for now, the last adult volume. It is also the most read and most highly rated of all Kitani's books.

The print edition came out at the end of 2019, announced by the retailer as a new book from a popular artist in the field. In 2020 it took eleventh place in the first-half adult-comic sales at Toranoana's Akihabara store. Official translations run past ten languages, English, simplified Chinese and Korean among them. 6th in the commercial hall.
